The Google Chromebook has been announced quite some time ago. For all you guys that don't know what it is, it is a laptop running Chrome OS that boots up in less than 10 seconds and has nothing else but the Google Chrome browser. It is the first step into cloud computing. More details on Chromebooks can be on found Amazon here.

As Acer and Samsung plans on releasing Chromebooks, Google gives us insight on how much the 3G plans will cost. For students, the pricing will be around $20. For business use, it will be $28 per month. Google insists on a 3 year contract and at least 10 Chromebooks for each business/school. Enterprise customers that want to purchase the Chromebook will have to pay $31 a month for the Acer brand, and $33 a month for the Samsung brand. Schools and business that selects the 3G models will be getting 100 MB of free data per month.

Chromebooks are really convenient for checking your email, Facebook, and other stuff you need to get down. You can quickly resume what you are doing as the start up speeds are really fast. In the future, I think cloud computing technologies will advance and we will no longer have the need of having hard drives in our local machine.
