Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 5 and 5.0.1
Although not released yet, it is very reassuring to know an untethered jailbreak will be released soon for iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1 devices. According to the makers of Greenp0ison, the Chronic Dev Team member pod2g has released a teaser video of the new untethered jailbreak! They have also claimed that this jailbreak will also work with 5.0.1 devices and they are yet to try it on the newer A5 devices. Cross your fingers guys, and hopefully it works!
An untethered jailbreak will be a lot more convenient for all of us because it doesn't require you to hook up your iOS device to a computer to reboot, and will have all the functionality unlike a semi-tethered boot.
Additionally, if you plan on downgrading to a custom iOS 5 version, it is good to know there is a way to do that too. You will need to back up APtickets and SHSH blobs with iFaith. This will allow you to downgrade later on just in case.
